China’s Fruit Import-Export Trade Statistics Of 2021 Released: China Import-Export Data 2020

 In 2021 China imported fruits worth $13.47 billion, 7.03 million metric tons as per the data released by the China Chamber of Commerce for export and import of foodstuff. Representing Y-O-Y (year-on-year) increase of 11.5% and 30.9% respectively.


On the other hand, China experienced a decline of 8.3% in the volume of its fruit exports and a decline of 14.9% in its total export value compared to 2020. The total fruit export value of China totaled $5.43 billion, 3.55 million metric tons.

Based on China import and export data 2020, the top-performing fruits are fresh durians, bananas, fresh kiwifruit, fresh cherries, mangosteens, fresh dragon fruit, fresh table grapes, and fresh longans.

China Import-Export Data 2020 also reveal its top export partner countries which are Chile, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, South Africa, and the Philippines.

Top Fruits Imports

Fresh Durians

China import data shows China imported fresh durians worth $4.21 billion, 822,000 metric tons in 2021 from Thailand. China recorded an increase of 42.7% you and 82.4% you respectively.

Fresh Cherries

China’s cherry imports increased by 48.9% to 314,000 metric tons in 2021 with an increase of 20.0% in its total import value of $1.98 billion. Bananas

China’s banana imports reached the value of $1.04 billion (+11.2%yoy), 1.86 million metric tons (+6.7% YoY) in 2021. Mainly imported from countries such as Cambodia ($200 million), Ecuador ($140 million), the Philippines ($490 million), and Vietnam ($160 million).

Mangosteens

In 2021 China imported mangosteen worth $770 million (+13.4%), 249,000 metric tons (-15.5% YoY). About $700 million of these imports originated from Thailand, and around $70 million of imports came from Indonesia.

Fresh Logans

In 2021 China’s imported fresh longans worth $710 million (+43.6% YOY), 469,000 metric tons (+35.3% YOY). Thailand was the top exporter of fresh longans to China in 2021.

Fresh Kiwifruit

China imported kiwifruit worth $550 million (+22.2%YOY), 128 metric tons (+9.6% YOY) in 2021 based on China import data. New Zealand stood as the top exporter of Kiwifruit to China with its total export value of $520 million (+27.7% YOY), 117,000 metric tons (+18.4% YOY).

Fresh Table Grapes

In 2021 China’s table grape imports stood at $540 million (-16.7% YOY), 95,000 metric tons (-22.3%). The main grape export countries for China in 2021 were Australia ($160 million), South Africa ($30 million), Chile ($180 million), and Peru ($140 million).

Fresh Dragon Fruit

China import and export data show that China imported fresh dragon fruit worth $530 million (-4.8% YOY), 588,000 metric tons (-5.0% YOY) in 2021. Vietnam was one of the top fresh dragon fruit suppliers to China in 2021.
